5 Things To Do For Yourself In 2017

Things To Do With Yourself, 2017, New Year's Resolutions, Katie Writes,

Happy new year! Instead of rambling on about my own resolutions today, I thought I'd share a few pointers on what you should do for yourself to have a fantastic 2017!

1. Cut negative people out of your life.

The friend who's dropped you for someone or something else? Cut them out. The guy that keeps leading you on? Get him out of your life. The person that always brings you down with their moaning and selfishness? Run a mile. Life's too short to spend time chasing people who don't make us happy. Let's spend this year with the people who make us feel good and actually deserve our time.

2. Explore more.

2017 is the year where I want to travel more, before it's too late. Let's get out there and find at least one new place to travel to each month; whether it's a new town just down the road or a completely different country - the world's your oyster.

3. Work on following your dreams.

So, things might not have turned out the way you'd hoped throughout 2016. (You're not the only one.) Let's pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and show everyone who thinks they can take us down just what we're made of. Let's show those who've rejected us, and perceived us as inadequate, that we can reach our goals, and that we're far more brilliant than they ever gave us credit for. Let's show them just how wrong they are!

4. Work on gratitude.

Being grateful for what you've actually got in life is a really important step to happiness. Yeah, of course you can still aim higher, but that doesn't mean to say that you shouldn't count your blessings daily. You've got a roof over your head and food on the table, so there's definitely a reason to be thankful. A really good way to do this is to write a 'gratitude list' at the end of each day.

5. Get moving.

Admittedly, this is nearly everyone's New Year's Resolution, isn't it? But I am determined to get into better shape. Not just for my physical health, but also my mental health. Even if it's just taking your dog for an extra walk a day, being a bit more active will make you feel so much better about yourself. Another thing that's free, and that I'm quite tempted to download, is the NHS Couch to 5K podcast. At the end of the day, who doesn't feel fantastic when they've got some endorphins whizzing around?
