| Just a tad too dark? |
I've become a bit of a fan of Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation, so will the concealer live up to the same standards?
Erm... No.
It's way too dark. Pictured is the lightest shade of concealer (Ivory) with the lightest shade of foundation (Light Porcelain). Why bother bringing out a super-pale foundation if you don't make a concealer to accompany it?
I've heard so many people raving about this so I thought I'd give it a try. I really wish I hadn't bothered because it's just a waste of money if you're pale.
I honestly can't comment on whether it's got an 'anti-fatigue' effect or a 'radiant glow' because as soon as I've applied it I'm too busy staring at the mirror going: "Ahhh, I've got orange panda eyes!".
It looks like I've got orange dark circles. (Please try not to laugh at that image.) Every spot and blemish is encircled with an orange hue that makes me look like I've developed some kind of horrendous skin condition. What are pale people supposed to do? It's bad enough that we look like death warmed up due to our pallor, but to have such a lack of products to conceal our dark circles and blemishes just adds insult to injury.
Please, cosmetics companies, is it really so much to ask for that pale people need concealer too? Please. Don't bring out pale foundations and then forget about creating a super-pale concealer to accompany it. That's just silly. Isn't it?

Costa Coffee Orange Hot Chocolate
I'm not normally a regular drinker of hot chocolate, but this is amazing! When you first take a sip of this, it's just like normal hot chocolate but after a couple of seconds you get this whopping orange kick!
So, at just over £3, it's quite expensive... But it's a gorgeous wintery treat!! And it's nearly Christmas, so you're well within your rights to: A.) eat and drink as much chocolate as possible and B.) treat yourself. So there.
You can pick this lovely drink up at Costa Coffee. You can't order it to be delivered to your house, unfortunately...
Rimmel Kate Matte Lipstick in 110
I am really getting into my lipsticks at the moment and this is one that I recently picked up in Boots. I was looking for shade 111, because I read somewhere that it's a fantastic Mac Ruby Woo dupe, but they didn't have it, so I picked this one up instead.
For saying it's a matte lipstick, it's not drying, which makes it perfect for this time of year! It's also so much cheaper than Mac Ruby Woo (about £10 cheaper...) so I would definitely recommend this one for those of you on a budget!

VO5 Nourish My Shine Bedazzling Oil Heat Protector
Oh my goodness, why have I only just discovered this?! It's brilliant! I bought it a few weeks ago and I've used it pretty much every day since. It was a lifesaver when I was on my BBC work placement because I spent quite a lot of time outside, and this stopped my hair from descending into a frizzy mess.
You spray it on your hair before blow drying and it adds shine, but also conditions as well as being a heat protector! It's a jack of all trades, this one.

Zoella Beauty Body Lotion
Everybody's been raving about the Zoella Beauty range since it came out in September, and I must admit that I bought a couple of goodies on the day they were released (yes, I'm a saddo, I know...)
I've been meaning to write about them for ages. Literally. Sorry.
I love this body lotion. For starters, it smells wonderful. Secondly, it lasts all day on your skin. It's not overbearing or greasy; but it's still really moisturising. This would also make a brilliant stocking filler for someone!

Max Factor 2000 Calorie Mascara
I must admit that I didn't like this to begin with (back in those halcyon days where I shunned natural-looking lashes and went around with ones like spider legs instead...) but recently I've been using this as my every day mascara.
It's perfect for creating a fantastic day look. It's not over the top, but it's definitely enough to give your lashes lift and volume. It's nothing too showy, but it's just a great 'traditional' mascara.

This week, I've been on a work placement (with the BBC) so I thought I'd take you through the skincare and makeup products that I've used whilst being a busy BBC bee. Ha.
I've opted for a fairly natural, light look that's absolutely ideal for work or school. Working 40 hours this week has meant that everything's been a bit of a rush, so I've spent less time on my makeup than normal. All of the skincare and makeup products that I've used are high street/drugstore brands, so this look won't be expensive to recreate. Obviously it's catered for my exceptionally needy skin and pale skin tone; so alter it accordingly to suit your skin.

♥ Carmex Cherry flavour lip balm,
♥ Boots Simply Sensitive Eye Cream (Optional).
Base:
♥ Rimmel Fix and Perfect Primer (Optional),
♥ Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation in 001 Light Porcelain,
♥ Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in 1 Fair,
♥ Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Translucent,
♥ Real Techniques Expert Face Sponge (Optional).
Contouring:
♥ Boots Natural Collection Bronzer,

Eyes:

Firstly, I start by cleansing my face with the hot cloth cleanser, using the warm muslin cloth to gently exfoliate my skin and then rinse with cold water. If you're in a hurry, skip toner and go straight to moisturiser; I'm currently using the Olay one pictured above. If you've got time dab a little eye cream under your eyes.
If you want your makeup to have extra staying power throughout the day, add some primer. The best high street one I've stumbled across is Rimmel's Fix and Perfect.
I then dampen my Real Techniques sponge slightly and add about one pump of Wake Me Up foundation over my face; add a little more if you want a heavier coverage. If you're after a really light coverage, swap the foundation for a BB Cream or CC cream instead. Pop some concealer under your eyes and over any blemishes and then seal in place with a light dusting of powder.
To simply do a little bit of contouring, suck your cheeks in and add some bronzer into the part where your cheeks are indented. Apply in a 'three' motion around your face (forehead, under cheeks and jawline. Apply some blusher onto the apples of your cheeks too.
Finally, for your eyes, add some of the Max Factor pencil over your lids. I'm using this lovely pink colour, but if you fancy being a bit more Autumnal, use a brown shade instead. Line your upper lash line with a little bit of kohl eyeliner and apply a couple of coats of mascara... And you're done!

*Ooh, shiny new mascara alert.* You know me, I'm incredibly picky when it comes to mascaras... So will this self-professed 'wonderful' mascara live up to my high standards?
You may well have seen Georgia May Jagger sashaying around making eyes at people while wearing this mascara on the TV ad recently? She was advertising this in style; as she does with all new Rimmel products, except when Kate Moss feels like sashaying in instead...
Anyway, back to the mascara... I picked this Boots a couple of weeks ago because I'm not ashamed to say that I'm hopelessly addicted to mascara. It costs £7.99, but I bought on offer for £5.99... Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to be on offer anymore. Sorry!
It contains argon oil, which seems to be everywhere at the moment! It claims to moisturise your lashes while you're wearing it. Impressive, if you've got dry lashes. I wouldn't be able to tell you if it's worked for me or not... I genuinely can't comment because I've not really used it for long enough. I've been using it on and off for less than a fortnight, so it's perhaps no where near enough to have had any effect...?
I would say that this is perfect for a day look, but you'd maybe need something a tad more dramatic for night time. It's really great for giving my lashes length, but it's not that fantastic at giving them loads of volume. That's fine for daytime wear, but at night, you might want a mascara with a bit more kick.*

The one thing that I really dislike about this mascara is the smudging. I know that not everyone necessarily has this problem, but I do unfortunately get this with a lot of mascaras. And it really dissuades me from using this one. Even if I curl my eyelashes to give them lift, the dreaded smudging still occurs. If you're lucky enough not to struggle with smudging, then I'm sure you'll love this mascara! It's just not ideal to have to keep on checking your eyes in a mirror throughout the day, to ensure that you haven't turned into a panda.
The brush is slightly similar in feel to Benefit's They're Real's - Albeit a bit fatter and without the 'ball' of spikes at the end of the wand. There's no clumping either, which is fantastic! One great thing about this mascara is that it's easy to create a slightly cat-eyed look, if that's your cup of tea...
(...People aren't going to mistake you for a moggy, but it looks eye-catching... Get it? Ha.)
The packaging, as you can see, is a copper-coloured curved tube. Rimmel always go the extra mile to ensure that their products catch your eye.
Unfortunately, this mascara is only available in Black. There's no Black/Brown option, which I tend to opt for if it's available. I don't think that Rimmel offer a waterproof version either.
N.B. As a complete, self-confessed grammar pedant, the name irritates me ever-so slightly. I'm sure that Rimmel are trying to say that it makes your lashes look fuller, which it does, and also wonderful... I get that, but it doesn't stop me being a Grammar Nazi about it...
So, to recap...
Advantages:
- Great for daytime wear,
- Offers fantastic lift to lashes,
- Cheap,
- No clumping.
Disadvantages:
- SMUDGING,
- Unsure if 'conditioning effect' actually works,
- Not available in Black/Brown or Waterproof,
- Plastic wand - Not ideal for those who prefer fibre brushes.

I really like the packaging of this foundation. The heavy glass bottle makes it feel like it's quite a high quality product to be using. The bottle has a pump dispenser, which makes it easier to control how much product comes out.
It's been my main foundation for the past couple of weeks now. I admit that I like it, but I still have some reservations about it that stop me from using it all the time. I prefer it to Rimmel's Stay Matte Foundation; mainly because I feel it nourishes the dryer patches of skin much more.
I really wouldn't recommend this foundation if you suffer from oily skin. I have oily patches, and it does tend to make them worse at times; even if I use primer, powder to set and blotting paper during the day too.
Regarding the longevity of the product, it doesn't actually tend to stay on my skin for that long. Even with primer, it still needs touching up after four or five hours. I use a setting spray with this foundation too; either Elf Studio Makeup Mist & Set or Anatomicals Stay Misty for Me.
As mentioned in my review of Stay Matte Foundation, I love the paler shades that Rimmel are now making foundations in. It means that paler people, like myself, don't have to look orange, mix loads of foundations together or fake tan ourselves up to the eyeballs just to have bodies and faces that match.
A lot of bloggers comment on the 'shimmering' effect of this foundation. I must admit that I haven't really seen much shimmer on my face whilst wearing this foundation. It does look radiant, yes, but I wouldn't go as far as to say I look glittery.
This foundation also boasts about its 'anti-fatigue' aspect. I'm not sure if it really has that much effect on how tired I look. If I look quite exhausted, this foundation doesn't really tend to hide it that well for me.
This foundation is great value at £8.99. It reminds me a little of Mac Studio Sculpt Foundation for its moisturising qualities and its finishing texture. (It's also much cheaper than the Mac Foundation).

- Tendency to 'slide off' skin in certain conditions. (Especially when rushing about and busy or in hotter climes).

Rimmel have replaced their older Stay Matte with this newer version. I was never really a fan of the previous version, because the colour range didn't stretch to paler shades. I've always been a huge fan of the Stay Matte Powder though, so I thought I'd give this newer foundation a try.
One great thing about the newer version of this foundation is that it's got a bigger colour range. I bought the foundation in 010 Light Porcelain, because my skin's really pale.
(I love that Rimmel is leading the way in high street beauty brands making foundations for super pale skin.)
My skin is combination: Mainly dry, but with an oily T-Zone and chin. I'm quite prone to breakouts in these areas, so I prefer foundations that let my skin breathe a bit.
I do have sensitive areas of skin too; and this foundation did affect those areas. By the time I washed it off, my skin felt quite tight and a bit sore too, which is definitely something that would deter me from wearing it often. I also have eczema on areas of my face, which are normally under control, but this foundation did dry those areas significantly enough to make them feel a little sore.
It's a long lasting foundation; that offers really good coverage. I'm not sure whether I used a little too much, but it offered my skin medium to full coverage.
You could definitely tell that I was wearing this foundation, which probably makes it one to avoid if you're looking for a much more natural look.

The packaging is quite simplistic, with a white and purple colour scheme. It comes in a squeezy tube, which has the downside of being tricky to get the remnants out of.
At £5.99, this foundation is fantastic value. It's also readily available in high street stores and supermarkets too.
