5 Ways To Get Over a Bad Day

Belper River Gardens, Flowers, How to get over a bad day, Dealing with a bad day, feeling happier, positivity, Katie Writes Blog, Katie Writes,

We all have bad days from time to time, unfortunately. So, instead of wallowing on a crappy day, I decided to share a few tips with you lovely readers on how to make yourself feel better when you've been through the mill a bit. Hope they help!

Let it alllllll out

If you want to cry, cry. Just let it all out. It's way better in the long run than bottling it up. Take it from a bottling-things-up-champion, you'll be far better off getting it all out of your system straight away.

And if there's someone you can talk to, talk to them, tell them about what's upsetting you. They might even be able to help you out. Having a little moan to someone, and getting things off your chest, will help you feel loads better.

Write your worries away

Write a moany blog post. Write a list of things you want to do that'll cheer you up. Write a list of places to visit when you're feeling happier. Write a wish list. Write a letter to the person who's upsetting you.* Write your day up in your diary. Write a short story. Write a play. Write whatever the hell you want to write. You could even write a blog post about how to get over a bad day, like me!

*You don't have to send it to them. Just rip it up afterwards.

Pamper yourself

Who doesn't feel better after a lovely bubble bath? Things that always make me feel better include: turning my phone off, watching some of my favourite TV shows or funny YouTube videos, getting lost in a good book for a while; and then having a bath. I've got a selection of Lush Bubble Bars at hand for pamper sessions, specifically ones that help you to relax like The Comforter, and Blue Skies and White Fluffy Clouds.

Light a candle (like the cute pinapple one below!), treat yourself to a face mask, paint your nails, toenails, really go all out and treat yourself! Trust me, you'll feel loads better for it!

 Focus on gratitude

Write a list at the end of the day of all you're grateful for. Whether that consists of really simple stuff like having a roof over your head, and having food available; or something more complex, is up to you. Focussing on what's good about your life, even on a day when you're not feeling great about everything, will remind you of just how much you should feel lucky for.

You could even dedicate a notepad to writing what you're grateful for each day. (I'm tempted to do that, mainly as an excuse to buy yet more stationery!) If you get into the habit of focussing on what's good in life, you'll generally feel more optimistic and resilient when things go wrong, but you don't need me to tell you that, do you?

Relax & sleep it off

If all else fails, try and have a good night's sleep! It often does wonders, doesn't it? If you struggle to sleep, a couple of drops of lavender oil is great for helping you to doze off. (And Wilkos sell some that's great value, so you don't even need to break the bank!)

Let's face it - there are some days where nothing'll help you to shake a bad mood off. So, sleeping it off, and starting afresh is always a good option. Just remember that tomorrow's another day, and things'll probably get better very soon.

How do you cope with a rubbish day?

Katie
